Les Lavandes dates back 400 years and was once, among other things a Lavender Farm. The property comprises five houses, four of which have been used as Gîtes for the past 20 years with an 11x6 metre swimming pool. There are two, three bedroom houses, two, two bedroom houses and a one bedroom apartment. Set in 1 ¾ hectares of beautiful parkland, and situated on a small hill within a valley, it enjoys panoramic views in all directions and is central to everything this wonderful region has to offer. There are two private terraces for our accommodation. In addition there is a large work shop, a large building currently used as a wood store, a 12x6 metre ‘citern’ which reclaims our rainwater for use on the garden
We are situated on the D703 Between Le Bugue (8kms) and Ste. Alvère (6kms). Bordeaux our nearest International Airport is 2 hours drive from here and Toulouse is around 2½ hours away. There are regular flights from Stanstead, England to Bergerac Airport, which is about 40 kms away. It is possible to fly from Paris to Bergerac which is 20 miles away approximately. The trains from Paris stop in Le Buisson (10 miles) and Le Bugue (5 miles) Both Ste. Alvère and Le Bugue offer Boulangeries, Pharmacies, Super Markets and numerous Cafes and excellent Restaurants.
Main House:
Entrance into large hallway 25m², with utility area – flagged limestone floors, large butler style sink, floor to ceiling bookshelves used as a video library at present. Office/Study 12m² with French windows out onto garden, stone floor. Cloakroom with toilet and wash basin. Bedroom 15m² with French doors out to garden and door onto front garden area, stone floor. The large flagged limestone floored kitchen/diner is approx 25m² and has fully fitted units, dishwasher and woodburning stove. There is a large double oven which can be left if required, price negotiable. There is a small room used as a larder. A door leads to the garden. Upstairs the lounge approx 30m² has windows on two walls and French doors leading down to the garden on the other, which makes it a light and airy room. Two more steps take you up to the main bedroom again approx 25m² and ensuite bathroom with bath, toilet and wash basin and electric heated towel rail. The houses which are rented are two three bedroom (sleeping 6), one two bedroom (sleeping 4) and a one bedroom apartment which we completed in 2003. All of the terraces for the rented accommodation face different directions and are not overlooked by any of the others. Please see our website www.leslavandes.com for more details. We are situated in the middle of what is known locally as the ‘Golden Triangle’ which is Perigueux (the capital of the Dordogne), Bergerac and Sarlat. This area has most of the popular ‘Sites Touristique’, Chateaux and Bastide Towns in the region.
