PROPERTY DESCRIPTION
A spacious village house set on the edge of the Cotentin national park. It has a working gîte with space to convert another or to extend the main house - the choice is yours. Less than an hour's drive to Cherbourg or Caen ferry ports, and only half an hour from the D-Day beaches, it's a perfect spot for tourism or leisure. The entrance hall takes you into the traditional farmhouse-style kitchen, with beamed ceiling, original tiled floor and a woodburning stove in the large fireplace. A wonderful feature of this room is the antique grandfather clock built into the wall by a local craftsman. The clock face bears the name of the village along with that of its maker.
At the back of the house is the utility area with space for washing machines and storage, with a back door leading to the garden with its magnificent views over the Cotentin marais, or wetlands. The bathroom, off the utility room, has a stone tiled floor with bath, basin and WC.
A door off the kitchen takes you to the dining room, which has a small staircase in the corner leading up to a bedroom area.
The good-sized sitting room has a woodburning stove. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are two bedrooms, one with en-suite WC & basin, also a woodburner. The large landing area is currently used as office space. Access to the spacious loft is via a small staircase.
The holiday cottage has separate access from the side of the house and is ideal for 2 people. The ground floor sitting/dining room has a corner kitchen and woodburner. Doors give access to the private garden with views over the marais.
Upstairs is the bedroom with en-suite shower, WC & basin.
Another separate section of the house is intended as a second gîte and the conversion works are part finished. It comprises 2 ground floor rooms and 3 first floor rooms, but these could easily become further bedrooms to the main house if desired.
There is a small stone barn in the garden, with a covered woodstore alongside.
